When Canon announced the new stabilized L macro lens - I was immediately interested. Of course macro is done best using a tripod but when chasing insects in the field, it is not always evident. Last weekend I could go get my new 100 mm stabilized macro lens and gave it a good try comparing it to my "good old" non-stabilized 100 mm macro. Both lenses are almost the same size - the new one weighs a little more - 660 grams versus 615 for the old macro
