With all the tourists visiting El Tatio, the parking lot always has something to offer for the birds in the neighborhood. As a consequence they are also quite used to people and can be easily approached. One of the more special birds we saw there was the red-backed sierra-finch (Phrygilus dorsalis). In Chile this bird can be seen around El Tatio and in the Lauca national park further north.
